Every president from Washington to the present has set precedents for their successors to follow. Every president has dealt with similar domestic and foreign policy challenges where it's only by specifics that they differ. It's been said, that president Obama has looked back to Ronald Reagan for inspiration for his recent speeches as he works to move towards "the middle" to find common ground between Democrats, Rebuplicans, and Tea Partyers in Congress in hopes of getting them to cooperate in problem solving. Well... look back further ! What would Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, JQ Adams, and Jackson advise about our current issues... Participating in this discussion and applying what our Early Republic presidents did right and what they did wrong could be a great way for you to think your way through preparing for the assessment on Thursday.
